Flight Officer/Pilot Les Lester had an extraordinary war, primarily in service in the RAAF 460 Squadron, operating under the RAF bomber command in 32 bombing raids over Germany, mainly in Lancaster bomber 4-engine planes. Image shows Les's service medals. The video features a short interview with Les in 1995, a recording of an actual raid by a RAF BC crew over Berlin, images, extracts of Mary Bourke's chapter on Les in her book "Keeping the Spirit Alive" read by Ashley Reed, music composed and played by John Eddy, sound effects, and a moving poetic tribute to Bomber Command read by project co-ordinator Christine Grayden. The video can be viewed on the society's You Tube channel.
