Bass Coast Shire community grant

Last updated on 11-Jul-18

Thanks to a Bass Coast Shire Council community grant, the society will be able to reorganise the museum to allow for access by mobility scooters and people in wheelchairs, and protect our valuable book bequest collections. The $700 grant will pay for Phillip Island Removalists to move the large reception desk to right angles from its present position, pack all the bequest books (1,000 of them!) into boxes and relocate the book cases onto the east brick wall away from the window they are presently up against, which subjects the books to temperature and humidity variation. Photo 1 shows Mayor (and society member) Pamela Rothfleld presenting the grant award certificate to secretary Christine Grayden, and photo 2 shows the large group of club and society representatives who received grants that night. Christine and committee member Anne Davie are in front with Pamela. The museum will be closed from Monday 16 July until at least Monday 6 August while we do the packing of display and stored items that need to be packed to allow the rearranging.
