The launch of the knitted tapestry from a photo from the society's collection of a group of people waiting for the ferry on the jetty (c 1900) will be held this Sunday July 1 at the Cowes Cultural Centre, cnr Church St and Thompson Ave Cowes, at 2 p.m. The launch of the 5 metres x 3.5 metres tapestry, which took 20 women 6000 knitted squares 5cm square each to put together, was finished off with features such as hats and faces, by the Textile Artists Group. The launch will be followed by a hearty afternoon tea and everyone is welcome. This is another event for Phillip Island's celebration of 150 years since closer settlement. May see you on Sunday! Photo below shows the original photo from the society's collection on which the knitted tapestry is based.
