A planning meeting for the Museums Australia Victoria conference to be held on Phillip Island and Churchill Island on the 5th, 6th and 7th of October this year, took place on Monday. Planning is well in hand with last-minute organising to be done. The historical society's secretary Christine Grayden, who is also curator at Churchill Island, is on the organising c/ee and will be co-ordinating the volunteers at the event. Volunteers are needed in the cloak room all day both Thursday and Friday, and as 'walking signage' in and outside the buildings. Anyone who volunteers for 2 hours is able to attend the rest of the conference for the day they volunteer. The conference will be held in the Cultural and Heritage Centres with catering being done by the St Philip's Parish Hall group in the Hall. A trade display will also be in the hall on the Thursday.
Pictured are Frank, events manager at Bass Coast Shire Council, Pauline from Destination Phillip Island, Vivienne, the other member of the events team, and Bridget the events co-ordinator at Musuems Australia Victoria. Also present but missing from the photo was Sarah and Laura from MAV. Christine took the photo. If anyone is interested in volunteering, they can contact Christine on m 0400 900 612 or e: cgrayden@waterfront.net.au
