Online Exhibitions

The exhibition "First World War Servicemen from Phillip Island" was researched and developed by society member John Jansson as part of the commemoration of the centenary of World War One by the Phillip Island community. It is one of a two-part exhibition which also included World War One Servicemen who came to live on Phillip Island after the war, and which will soon also be included on this website's Online Exhibitions feature. John received the Phillip Island RSL award for his work on these exhibitions.

The Phillip Island in Second World War 2 part online exhibitions are currently under development and will appear here by the end of 2020, commencing with Veterans and Prisoners of War. The series will also include the Volunteer Defence Corps and Volunteer Air Observers Corp combined in one online exhibition. This project was funded by the Victorian Government under the grants program commemorating the 75th anniversary of the end of WW2, and by society members. The project was co-ordinated by member Christine Grayden.

A video about Fears and Challenges on Phillip Island during WW2 can be seen on this society's Youtube:channel: The video is based on interviews conducted in 1995 by society members and Newhaven Cellege students under an "Australian Remembers" grant. The original video was made and edited by Robert Mackay, and the 2020 edit was compiled by Simon Eddy. Copy and paste this address into your browser:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XS1jEUuCU4
