February lunch meeting


The society will have its first quarterly meeting for 2019 on Wednesday 13 February at the Anzac room in the RSL, cnr Thompson Ave and Cowes-Rhyll rd starting at 12 midday. Cost for two course meal, tea and coffe plus raffle ticket is $20.  Drinks at bar prices. Speaker will be secretary and past curator of Churchill Island, Christine Grayden, who will speak on "The Life and Times of Samuel Amess". Alderman Amess of the Melbourne City Council owned Churchill Island from 1872 and built the homestead there. His life was full of his succesful business, civic duties, leisure activities and family - a real man of his times!
