Where & When To Find Us

Last updated on 17-Apr-22

OUR MUSEUM IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO THE BUILDING BEING DEMOLISHED DURING 2021. WE WILL BE RE-LOCATING TO THE NEW COWES CULTURAL AND COMMUNITY CENTRE DUE TO BE COMPLETED on the same site 2022-23.

We are very excited with the prospect of having a new museum where all the displays will be behind glass and available for the public to view at any time the adjacent library is open. It is planned that our volunteers will be available in the museum at set days/times to answer visitors' enquiries and interact with visitors generally. We will also have storage, cataloging and archiving space in the second storey of the museum space so can continue the work of making our collection available online through the freely-available website: victoriancollections.net.au  We already have over 3,000 images available to view there!

We are still happy to research your enquiry and accept donations, especially of photographs or digitised photographs and smaller objects. All donations must relate directly to Phillip Island. Contact the secretary, Pamela Rothfield: history@waterfront.net.au

Temporary quarters for our cataloguers will be located at the Phillip Island and District Genealogical Society rooms at 56 Chapel Street Cowes – just down from the office of the Phillip Island and San Remo Advertiser. Please contact the secretary to arrange an appointment to visit us in the rooms.
