Please note that the society's Museum is currently unavailable while the new Cowes Cultural and Community Centre is being built. The museum will then open in the new building with a new Exhibition and space at that time, estimated to be approximately early 2023.
RESEARCH
The society receives many requests for research, photographs, maps, etc. In many of these cases we are able to help, but research takes time and a great deal of effort, so a charge is made of $15 per hour. Provided the photographs requested are not copyright, we are generally able to provide jpg copies emailed to an inbox.
Where pages from books in our research library are able to be photocopied, the charge is .20c per page.
Please see the LINKS page for suggested websites where you can pursue your own research about Phillip Island & District.
SCHOOL TALKS are currently unavailable.
Society members can be available to give talks to school students provided sufficient notice is given. Using items from our collection, we can give a hands-on session about Phillip Island before electricity and plastic. Living on Phillip Island before the first bridge was built in 1939 is another popular topic. School groups booking a visit to the museum will be provided with two knowledgeable members who can circulate and answer students’ questions during their museum visit.
Education groups who have attended the museum recently have included:
Primary school children – years 3 and 4
