Phillip Island & District Historical Society

Next General Meeting lunch coming up

Last updated on 14-Jan-20

The next General Meeting of the society will be held in the Anzac Room of the Phillip Island RSL on Wednesday 5th February starting at 12 noon. Cost is $20 for mains and dessert, and includes raffle tickets. You can pay at the door, but must book by phoning our treasurer Judy Gittus 0417 390 885 or emailing us at history@waterfront.net.au   Our speaker will be Christine Grayden, former curator of Churchill Island, who will speak on the life and career of Lt James Grant, who captained the small sloop "Lady Nelson" from England, then entered Western Port in 1801. His life reflected that of naval captains of the time - unpredictable to say the least! All welcome. Photo shows the replica of the Lady Nelson from Tasmania.
