MAP visits our museum

Last updated on 4 May 2019

Simone Ewenson from Australian Museums & Galleries Association Victoria Museum Accreditation Program (MAP)visited the Phillip Island museum for two days last week, after 'guinea pigs' to trial a new online expression of interest form for museums wishing to go for Accreditation. The detailed Accreditation process covers compliance with all the National Standards for museums and galleries, and takes several years to achieve. Graeme Clauscen, our president; Christine Grayden, our secretary; Judy Gittus, our treasurer and accessions officer; and Bev Forrest, committee member and cataloguer, all worked with Simone individually trialing the form and finding out what worked and what didn't quite work, as well as adding suggested content and style options. On the second day after testing finished, Simone discussed MAP with the four society members and did a museum tour of exhibition and storage areas, giving us some hints as we went. It was well worthwhile. Simone will be back once the form is at the final draft stage. Photo shows from left: Simone, Bev, Judy and Graeme in the museum 30.4.2019.
