NAIDOC week is upon us and the society is this year participating again, thanks to local Boonwurrung man Steven Parker who has provided us with 12 words of the Boonwurrung language to turn into a display and some word games to be played on the big table by visitors. The theme this year is "Our Languages Matter", so the display is very appropriate. We are having an OPEN DAY on Tuesday 4th July between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The display will stay up for a few months however, so if you miss the Open Day you can still see the display and play the games for a few months to come. The friendly volunteers on duty on Tuesday will be Anne Davie, Bruce Procter, Christine Grayden and Julie Box. The day is free! Do drop in and say hello and learn some of the words spoken on the island for many thousands of years, and still used today.
