Twenty one members and friends enjoyed a bus trip to the mansion "Rippon Lea" on Monday to see the costumes from the film "The Dressmaker". While some of the costumes were downstairs, others were upstairs and many members climbed the stairs to see the rest of the exhibition up there. Those who couldn't were provided with a seat and an ipad screening a film about the upstairs exhibition, which was very thoughtful of the curators.A volunteer guide was looking after each room displaying costumes, and we learnt that the volunteers came from a few different businesses such as NAB, and this was part of their community engagement. Some of the amazing costumes, which were often set in front of mural sized appropriate scenes from the film, are seen here:
Also shown are members enjoying a ramble of the extensive, 13 1/2 acre old garden. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their day. Thanks to Judy and Christine for the organising and to Clarrie from Cleeland Bus Lines for getting us there and back safely and in good time.
